GEO-LOC

Exploitation of GEO-spatiaL data for autOmated vehiCles (European Space Agency – NAVISP Element 1 Project)

In urban scenarios, specularly reflected Non-Line-of-Sight signals (srNLOS) are typically the main source of degradation in GNSS positioning performance.

The objective of GEO-LOC is to develop a geospatial augmentation system for automated vehicles that leverages GNSS srNLOS signals to enable high-performance positioning in urban areas.

At the same time, the project aims to propose a roadmap to bring the proposed solutions to market as a real-time commercial service, as well as to define additional HW/SW modules to be developed for the commercialization of the service.

From a technical perspective, the system will enable the compensation of signal masking effects, the correction of large positioning errors introduced by single reflections of GNSS signals from the surfaces of tall buildings, and the exploitation of the concept of Intelligent Urban Positioning based on 3D mapping-assisted algorithms.
